What I'm telling you is there are more and more people in congress that don't give a flyin' fuck what the public, the media, or anyone else thinks. These guys are cornered in a no win, damned if you do, damned if you don't position, and then have Obama rubbing their noses in it. It would not surprise me one bit if if they say to hell with it, let it crash and burn.
You can say they have no one but themselves to blame. I wouldn't argue. You can say they got out played. I wouldn't argue. None of that is the point. If they're going to be seen as the bad guys no matter what they do, then why not just dig in deep and let the chips fall where they may?

that is a complete misread of the constitution.
even the CRS and Obama have said the 14th amendment argument is not an option.

Former Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman Says âGOP Has No Soulâ
Former Utah Governor and 2012 presidential contender Jon Huntsman had some rather sour words for his party in a recent interview, criticizing their obstructionist stances and criticizing them of being âdevoid of a soul.â
In the interview, published Sunday in the Daily Telegraph, Huntsman criticized the GOP for having no central vision or platform and keeping Congress in a holding pattern until they figure one out.
âThe party right now is a holding company thatâs devoid of a soul and it will be filled up with ideas over time and leaders will take their proper place,â he said. âWe canât be known as a party thatâs fear-based and doesnât believe in math,â he added. âIn the end it will come down to a party that believes in opportunity for all our people, economic competitiveness and a strong dose of libertarianism.â
He also criticized the GOP in a recent interview with The Huffington Post.
âIn my party, compromise cannot be seen as analogous to treason, which it has been recently,â he said.
