This will be a golden opportunity to see if firing policemen will cause the crime rate to plummet. Was it in Jaurez that the murder rate dropped precipitously when the police were disarmed a few years back? Of course with many fewer policemen writing $150 dollar tickets for burned out tag lights it will be more difficult to pay the cost of operating courts. So maybe they should fire one or two judges too. Or they could do what New Orleans does and set up cameras and automatic ticketing of cars going 21 mph in a 20 zone. At 75 a whack this has been a multi million dollar winner for New Orleans. Sometimes they put up two or three cameras a few blocks apart and multiply the number of tickets, moments apart, on the same car. Very effective fund raiser!, and a lot more one time visitors. Leaves a memorable impression on tourists. Like the Tee shirt says: "New Orleans, It's not the heat; It's the stupidity."
Less policing has certainly worked well for Baltimore.

Well a very worried manager came over and advised me to move as cops could come in at any time. "Unless you want to be arrested for a cop's quota, don't sit here is all I'm saying."
I have always wondered what the charge would have been. Obstruction of police business of some kind?
America has good cops, it also has a LOT of bad practices in policing.
