The fine GOP House majority

Oh pooh. Just some flap that will be over sometime and they will end out with McCarthy or someone better.

Then the country will rest up a bit begin the dem clown show around Biden- will he go or will you need to move him out drama.

Biden- being who he is- was on the tube yesterday crying about how the country and institutions are under attack again as a result of the speaker flap. And then he does his usual "I speak with other countries and they can't believe it." And everyone is aghast at how much America sucks type of thing.

Biden needs to shut his fucking hole for crisesake. We just watched the Brits go through this disastrous government of the week thing with Liz Truss. Then when the Germans elected Sholtz it took them months to put a government together. When Macron was elected his own party did not even get a majority while the far right surged and they have riots in the streets on a regular basis. Let's not even talk about Italy. Their government has been a different shit-show every month since before and after the day I was born.

Biden and his bootlickers such as you like to play that January 6 the-sky-is-falling routine a bit too much these days. Your party had the same old hag in there for decades who had all the members by the balls but that kept things calm for you. Then her hand-picked and approved successor replaced her. Not a single dissenting vote because no one dared. Communist China and North Korea are about the only other places that elect without dissenting votes.

They had better hurry up

Hunter Biden's Laptop isn't going to investigate itself!

No matter which republican becomes speaker they will be diminished as a leader.

I hear the deal is going to involve a mechanism to be able discharge leadership and bring bills up for a vote with a simple majority. Meaning republicans don’t have to actually do the work of government because democrats can carry the water with only a few Republicans while the rest can all eat glue and in between having an affair with Marge Green.

If we are going to be having a new vote every hour for days to come, it seems like McCarthy should at least be getting some frequent flier miles from Delta Airlines or something.

Why? He deserves nothing.

Including flying back and forth to Cali on Air Force 2.

Had enough of that with the old hag and her liquor bills.

Incredibly Productive House Of Representatives Assembles For 8th Vote In Just 3 Days

WASHINGTON—Defying speculation that the 118th Congress would get little accomplished during its term, the incredibly productive House of Representatives assembled Thursday for its eighth vote in just three days.

“Less than 72 hours into the new session, and they’ve already held seven votes—these committed representatives are holding a master class in how to show up and get down to brass tacks,” said New York Times congressional reporter Annie Karni, adding that the seven votes in the House of Representatives had also seen 100% attendance, a rarity in the chamber, which only underscored the legislative body’s universal commitment to efficiency.

“Things are finally changing in Washington. We’ve also received word from Capitol sources that this burst of productivity from our elected officials might not even be over—we could see an ninth, tenth, or even 11th vote today. This level of voting right out of the gate hasn’t been seen in America in over a century, and it bodes well for our nation’s future.” At press time, several new polls found that a majority of Americans supported giving the hardworking representatives a few days or even weeks off to rest.

Much of this has been discussed but in general the risk that the holdouts have is that they have extracted all these deals with McCarthy but also torpedoing his chances of being elected. And next person will not be bound by any agreements with the holdouts.

In general the dems are not going to vote for any republican speaker and I agree with that. But I can't say that there is no scenario where that could happen. If McCarthy can't get elected and the next person refuses to do all the deals with the holdouts then the dems and others can giggle because everything is at a standstill with no speaker. Fine for a while, but there is the debt ceiling and all sorts of other legislative business in the house that the dems want to see happen so it will/would be in their interest to weigh in ultimately.

Some of this dilemma is a result of the vitriolic nature of the relations in the U.S. Congress between parties. At the state level, it is fairly common for some state legislators to cross party lines when they are in the out-of-power party to vote in the least conservative or the least lefty house speaker as they wish. They just take care of bidness as they say in Texas. Not so in DC. They act like it is a constitutional crisis or something.
