The fine GOP House majority

Why would they allow that in 2022? There’s very few places left that still allow it. I know a lot of people just vape so it doesn’t stink everything up. Even though it’s not allowed in my building, it’s not really enforced like smoking would be.

Republican says smoking of cigars inside the Capitol Is "about freedom," and definitely not about being a belligerent asshole.

The White House is just sitting back, getting out the popcorn, and getting ready to enjoy the show. Nothing has made the Biden administration happier than watching the MAGA clowns obtain key assignments after McCarthy folded to their demands to be the majority House leader. A move that ensures that the GOP majority House will not only be inoperable but a complete national laughing stock for complete failure.

Biden White House feeling 'unbridled glee' at seeing MAGA diehards getting key committee spots: report

Multiple far-right Republicans -- including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) -- have landed coveted spots on the House Oversight Committee.

However, Politico reports that members of President Joe Biden's White House appear to be far from intimidated and are actually feeling "unbridled glee" at these appointments.

"Privately, the president’s aides sent texts to one another with digital high fives and likened their apparent luck to drawing an inside straight," the publication writes. "One White House ally called it a 'political gift.'"

Another Biden administration official told Politico that the MAGA House Oversight Committee members are “extreme and crazy, yes, and easy to dunk on in the media," which could benefit the White House politically.

While some House Democrats were apprehensive about the MAGA allies being so much in the national spotlight, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) said that it would make the GOP caucus appear unhinged.

"“The Republicans have brought the QAnon caucus to the Oversight Committee, and you can expect them to run with the most ludicrous conspiracy theories one can ever imagine,” he said. “And I think our job is very simple, which is to make sure that we ground our work and any of these investigations in reality.”

Not correct. The debt ceiling is raised to pay for new spending. If the debt ceiling is not raised then spending appropriated by Congreff may not get paid. However, payments on the debt will always be paid----even if at the expense of other government spending that Congreff has voted for. So, in my view, we should not be raising the debt ceiling----rather we should be reducing the growth of, or actually cutting government spending with defense not being an area to be cut.
Do you have a source? You’re arguing against what’s on a government website. I remember 2011 very well. If we don’t pay the interest on our bonds that’s a default. While that interest has priority, the Treasury needs to print money to do that.
I tried to tell you but you didn't believe me.---Now, take a look at this article--

Biden’s new debt ceiling problem: Wall Street’s not freaking out

The Biden administration warns of catastrophe if Congress fails to raise the government’s borrowing limit in the coming months. But some Wall Street executives and analysts are starting to break from that script.

A number of prominent financial experts at Bank of America, Barclays and other major firms are confident that the U.S. will avert a global market meltdown by continuing to pay its bondholders if the Treasury Department crosses the threshold where it can’t cover all its other bills. They think the U.S. can do so by withholding funds for things like benefits owed to individual Americans or payments to firms doing business with the government.
