My concern here is time frame:
America is on it's way down!
American will recover!
Will both happen? probably, will they happen in the next 5 years? perhaps one will. will they happen in the next twenty years? perhaps, but probably only one or the other (I'm leaning to recover).
On the other hand if we look back at it in 100 years, and the dollar is internationally worth half what it is, would it be gradual (how gradual?) or sudden (how sudden?). for that matter, in a century there may not BE a dollar; there may be a "western currency" or even a "developed nation's currency".
So unless you feel confident that you can predict it to with a couple of years, back off-you are doing nothing useful, nor demonstrating knowledge; merely speculation.
Personally? I can't predict what happens until i know who wins the next presidential election. I'll give you this though: if Obama wins the dollar will shrink some more, employment will continue to go up, and net saving balance of both the gov't and the public will go up. does that make "the dollar" strong or weak?
