the FILM lounge

Quote from trendo:

When the film came out, I was 18 years old. Cloris Leachman looked like a MILF to me, so I know what you mean. She seemed much more interesting than the self-centered ice princess played by Shepard. Cloris turned in a superb job conveying the loneliness and desperation of her character.

I also liked her in "Young Frankenstein"
But thought Teri Garr was the hottie in that movie.

I always thought Teri Garr was a hottie and very talented. That squinting thing she does is cute and kinda sexy. She has had multiple sclerosis for 25 years and more recently suffered a brain aneurysm. The link below shows her on a recent TV appearance. I admire her for not letting vanity get the best of her.

wow..... i had no idea.

I havent been following her career and am surprised to see her like this. She's only 61 i think.

To see her in "Young Frankenstein" and now to see her like this...........
But shes still working, thats good.

I also saw her in Francis Ford Coppola's "One From The Heart" 1982. Eight years after she did "Young Frankenstein", but still looked almost the same, very sexy. (especially her nude scene)

Hollywood has come a long way. A few decades ago, she and Micheal Fox and a host of others would be out of work.... not the case anymore.

Thanks for the link!

Quote from omegapoint:

One of my favorite scenes in moviedom is DeNiro and Pacino at the table across from each other in Heat. Pacino tells DeNiro, "we're just a couple of guys sittin here, but if I ever get the chance, brutha you're goin down". DeNiro, after throwing out a few flashes of profile with the corners of his mouth dipped after a dramatic pause responds, "there's a flip side to that coin".
Timing is everything.

they made another movie together ....... coming out in a few weeks. Its called "Righteous Kill"

I really find it difficult to put the Farrelly Brothers in the same category as Hitchcock, Scorsese, and DeMille. I'd rather not put them with the greats; they should go with those that had promise, but never really lived up to it. Their first films were funny, but they couldn't match those early successes. Of course, all directors have those films that just didn't pan out, but the Farrelly track record just doesn't measure up.

"Their main activity becomes going out into the world of “normal” people and pretending to be mentally retarded."

Idioterne

stupid if you don't see this film

You are correct of course. Anyone looking at that list would come to the same conclusion.

But the list was not so much about the great directors... but directors i like from the films i enjoyed.

My meat and potatos genre is drama, but I also enjoy watching other kinds of films.

Now comparing comedies like "Dumb and Dumber" or "Kingpin" to comedies like Billy Wilder's "The Apartment" or "Some like it Hot".... .............. is like comparing a Thomas Kenkade print to a Van Gogh original. I admit it. But the point is, those two movies from the Farrelly Bros made me laugh...... even though they dont make anyone's list of great movies.

Thanks for posting.

The list was more of MY films rather than what is considered the top films......

But you give me an idea..... I will work on a list and come up with what is regarded as THE best 10 Dramas of all time, and what is considered the 20 Greatest Films of all time.
