Yeah, working on that one. Today, looking for the break out of the chop, had 4 trades, longs and shorts, with only one profitable.
Got the concept down, but refining the plan. Not really looking for the holy grail, i know that is within me, and i trade against me and my emotions. Trying to find the nich that fits me, and I believe I am getting closer.
1 minute bars gave me too much chopping around, and to many trading signals. Moved to the 3, at the same time watching the 5, then moved to the 5. I watch the time frame larger than the one I trade for overall direction. I am trading the 5, and watching the 13. I'm not abandoning ship because I'm not successful, but because it fits my needs better. I used to have to watch every little movement, now I don't, because my style is not scalping, but I didn't know that when I first started with the ES.
Thanks for the post, it gave me alot to think about.

You seem to win when you paper trade and lose
when you trade real money.
Why not rotate back and forth for 6 days,
switching every day, and see if you only win on
your paper days.
Then you can decide if its because of psychology,
or possibly something else that you are missing.

Congratulations on your improving trading performance. In fact, I'm jealous. I'm still struggling. So much so I've decided to practice more using ensignsoftware's simu-broker (thanks qwiktrade for the recommendation). This software provides such a realist interface that I may forget that I'm just paper trading.
By the way, would you be good enough to remind me of the conditions you look for to enter a trade.

I'm pissed. Not at the market. At me. I watched several good setups pass me by. Took T1 w/o any confirmation or support. That came 25 minutes later, right when I was in the middle of a stupid short, T2. T3, desperation move at the end of the day, shorting into a strong s/r line 888.
Frustrating day. Probably one of the worst since I've been trading full time.
Gonna take the weekend, and start from scratch, (ie vultures post several pages back) and re-write the plan, and incorporate the stuff I've been papertrading the last coupla days.
I am not going to trade till that is done, and in published form, and condensed to one page.
Now, if I had a dog, I'd go kick it, but since I don't, I better get started.
