No use in arguing with him. He's a broken record and even hard data won't convince.
Like ummm hard data (from a Google search) such as:-
"A total of 278,870,463 personal and commercial vehicles were registered to drivers in the U.S. in 2022"
"A total of 2.4 million electric vehicles registered in 2022, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Energy."
Of course the numbers have improved for EV's in the last two years LOL but still paltry in comparison to ICE's.
Over time the gap will likely continue to narrow. Oooooooooooover time.
Geez that's not good enough for some. They have to project their opinion that it will happen and it will happen by year X because yada yada.
Life has a way of throwing curveballs, deal with it.

China’s European EV boost
Sales of Chinese-built electric vehicles in Europe jumped by 23% in the first four months of 2024 compared to the same period a year before. A total of 119,300 Chinese EVs were registered in Western Europe, including the UK, between January and April, one in five of all EV imports. The European Union is the market of choice for Chinese manufacturers, the Financial Times reported, because its 10% tariff pales in comparison with the recently imposed 100% tariff in the US. EV prices elsewhere are falling: One salesman told The New York Times that EV buyers used to be well-heeled professionals, but they are now seeing younger and “more blue-collar and entry-level white-collar people” as the sticker price “has suddenly become in reach.”

World to miss energy target

The world is on course to double, but not triple renewable energy output by 2030, the International Energy Agency said. Last December, nearly 150 countries agreed to the more ambitious goal, but few have taken any policy steps to achieve it. The IEA’s director said the gap was “ambitious but achievable … if governments quickly turn promises into plans of action,” and called on countries to include specific targets in their climate action plans. Not all countries are lagging behind on renewable generation: China is moving faster than its plans, and last year added more renewable capacity than the rest of the world combined.
