The Election is Now About Keeping Trump Out of Prison

Lawfare writes that the charges laid out in the indictment “will be the ones forever attached to Trump’s name.”

“They will appear in the first line of his obituary. They will be the facts school children learn about him as long as school children learn facts about American presidents. Among the many extraordinary features of his most extraordinary presidency, the facts alleged here—and which the government must now prove beyond a reasonable doubt to a unanimous jury—are singularly defining.”

“Trump will always be the president charged by the government he led with pursuing, as the indictment puts it, ‘unlawful means of discounting legitimate votes and subverting’ the results of the presidential election that he lost.”

Financial Turmoil: Trump Campaign's $108K Payment to Melania's Hairstylist

In the first months of 2023, a pro-Trump super PAC, Save America, came under scrutiny for paying Melania Trump's hairstylist, Hervé Pierre Braillard, a staggering $108,000. The payment was listed as "strategy consulting" in their operating expenses report, raising eyebrows about the nature of the transaction.

Trump Compares Prosecutors to Nazis in Deranged Post-Indictment Statement
https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump...o-nazis-in-deranged-post-indictment-statement

Donald Trump predictably cried “election interference” on Tuesday—while also likening his prosecutors to Nazis—just after a grand jury returned a third indictment against the former president. This time, Trump was charged for his alleged attempt to unlawfully overturn the 2020 election.

Shortly after news of the indictment broke, his campaign released an unhinged statement claiming that the entire effort is simply a way for his opponents to derail his 2024 presidential bid. “Why did they wait two and a half years to bring these fake charges, right in the middle of President Trump’s winning campaign for 2024?” the statement rhetorically asks. “The answer is, election interference!”

Trump once again referred to these investigations as “witch hunts,” even going as far as to compare the investigators to Nazis. “The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes,” the statement said.

'Supreme Court must intercede': Trump demands SCOTUS bail him out of legal jams

Former President Donald Trump has now been indicted three different times on dozens of felony charges -- and he wants the United States Supreme Court to help bail him out.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, the former president called on the Supreme Court to "intercede" on the grounds that he is being prosecuted only to harm his chances of winning the 2024 presidential election.

"CRAZY!" Trump began. "My political opponent has hit me with a barrage of weak lawsuits, including D.A., A.G., and others, which require massive amounts of my time & money to adjudicate. Resources that would have gone into Ads and Rallies, will now have to be spent fighting these Radical Left Thugs in numerous courts throughout the Country. I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field. It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede. MAGA!"

Security ramped at Fulton County courthouse as Trump's fourth indictment seems imminent

Streets around Fulton County courthouse in Georgia are being shut down as of Monday as speculation grows that former President Donald Trump is about to be hit with his fourth criminal indictment.

The county announced tight security measures will be put in place as of 5 a.m. and will remain until at least August 18, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Previous reporting suggested that Trump wasn't well-organized at his arraignment and got tongue-tied when he gave his name and age, identifying himself as "Donald J Trump — John — Donald John Trump" and saying his age was "seven seven."
