Looking at this in terms of probabilities, why do you see this as riskier than the flu for you?
Are you in any high risk categories?
If you don't have any symptoms why are do you see yourself as a big risk to others?

I wear one of the ubquituous, 3-ply surgical masks when in public and at my company’s terminal. I also wear it when entering the hotzone where I live.
The point of wearing the mask for me is three fold:
1. To buy me enough time to safely distance myself from someone who is displaying symptoms.
2. To provide some protection while in a retail store line in case of a person before me left aerosols lingering in the air.
3. To be respectful of those who work in front line positions, such as cashiers and many others.
The 3 ply surgical mask should not be expected to provide protection in a higly infectuous area for more than a few minutes or if not snuggly worn.
When running low on masks, I will leave some on the dash of my car for the sun to decontaminate, along with my goggles. Before touching high risk items with my hands, I will wear gloves and use a paper towel in my hand to handle the potentially infectuous item.
The principles involved in the reducing spread of this virus is “Defense in Depth” and “Cooperation”.
I don’t know how many reinfection cycles in will take to get everyone on board on PPE best practices, but this flu season should be interesting.
