The Economist - Most Liveable Cities 2011

Quote from Shagi:

Harare is a much better to live than most Cities in Africa including those in South Africa (too much crime), better than most in Middle East India, China, Korea and most of Eastern Europe. I have first hand travel experience and not some numbers spewed out a computer program designed by a geek who has never ventured out of his neighbourhood.

I find this hard to believe, but you are entitled to your personal opinion.

Quote from peilthetraveler:

Hmm...I wonder if the people that came up with those scores were from Canada and Australia....

I'm pretty sure The Economist is an American publication, but whatever helps you sleep at night.

Since the top ten aren't American cities, the report must be biased, right?

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

Toronto? Are you kidding me?

Unless you are a hockey fan or love winter sports, I don't see the attraction of Canada. Expensive, lousy weather and high taxes.

Wow you are ignorant. I thought you Americans were starting to learn more about the world outside of your borders in the new information age?

Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world (plenty of sports other than hockey), the weather is the exact same as Detroit, New York, Chicago, and the myth of high Canadian taxes is just that - a myth. For example, we now boast the lowest corporate tax rate in the entire G7.

Quote from atticus:

1 and 2 don't surprise me. Vancouver is an amazing city.

I heard Vancouver is nicknamed Hong-kouver because it has been overtaken by Chinese people.

My hong kong friend who visited said eh could spend the whole day there just speaking cantonese to people on the streets. He also said the chinese restaurants there are some of the best in the world even better than HKG and China
