The economics expert with no degree

Dealmaker, you have been slacking lately. Your posts have less and less info, like most of the article was cut off or something. Are you on vacation? Because we want the old DM back!!

For example in this post we still don't know why he is such an expert, did he predict something correctly?
I'll try and do better next post...

Thanks for your pointing out the Macro Musings Podcast.
Overall, Macro Musings is just great. If you are into bonds and Fed-watching, check out his interviews with Darell Duffie (about the treasury market/repo in March 2020) and with Peter Stella (recent one, about the FOMC balance sheet and his previous interview on Fed systems). There is also a lot of true macro-economic stuff there which I love listening to, lack of proper understanding of macro is my main weakness.

But she's objectively and undeniably "well educated"
I am not a fan of her politics (as you know, probably), but it's hard to deny that she is educated, intelligent and well spoken.

PS. how did we go from Tankus to AOC? is it because they are both liberal?

AOC may be educated but she has an agenda and will say stupid things just to justify it.

Open borders? For her extended latino family to easily join her in the States along with drug dealers, human traffickers, foreign spies...
Chumpie's two of three wives, he bought their ticket to stay in USA long before AOC was even out of college.

Nice touch labeling others from out of the country drug dealers, human traffickers, spies like we lol don't have 1000's of our very own. Cluuuueless.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I really appreciate it!

Congressman Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in international relations and economics. By most definitions that's "well educated". Where is your degree from and what kind of honors did you graduate with?

It's fine to disagree with her politics, it's even fine that you find many or all of her positions to be, to use your educated and erudite term, "stupid". But she's objectively and undeniably "well educated", so one has to wonder about the intelligence and education of someone who would rail against a simple fact like that?
just because someone went to boston university

the term well educated is a very meaningless term when used by itself. if someone learnt in a decent university it doesn't mean a thing if they cant think straight, with common sense. so yes, even if someone learnt in a good university but their comments, ideas and proposals look like they came from a baboon then i would not call them well educated. fyi i graduated from an ivy league with honors. but even i will be the first to tell you that if you can't apply it to real life then the education doesn't mean a thing. if you have a robot that memorized all the courses would you call it well educated..... ?

FYI. from Wiki:

Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007.[18] In high school and college, Ocasio-Cortez went by the name of "Sandy".[19] She came in second in the Microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans.[20] In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[21][22] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[23]

In 2008, while Ocasio-Cortez was a sophomore at Boston University, her father died of lung cancer.[24][25] Ocasio-Cortez became involved in a lengthy probate battle to settle his estate. She has said that the experience helped her learn "firsthand how attorneys appointed by the court to administer an estate can enrich themselves at the expense of the families struggling to make sense of the bureaucracy."[26]

During college, Ocasio-Cortez served as an intern for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, in his section on foreign affairs and immigration issues.[27] She recalled, "I was the only Spanish speaker, and as a result, as basically a kid—a 19-, 20-year-old kid—whenever a frantic call would come into the office because someone is looking for their husband because they have been snatched off the street by ICE, I was the one that had to pick up that phone. I was the one that had to help that person navigate that system."[27]

Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude from Boston University College of Arts and Sciences with a BA in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.
Underlining is mine. It's not necessary to thank me, Bonehead.
i know plenty of people that had better educations that i wouldn't call well educated. that article proves nothing.

Oh, is that so? I would bet dinner that you have not graduated from an Ivy League school, especially with honors. Feel free to prove me wrong, privately or publicly - we can settle at a restaurant of your choice, or mine :)

You appear to have three extra letters at the beginning of your handle, you really should have those removed:finger:

First, I'm joining @Same Lazy Element in calling bullshit on your "ivy league with honors" lie. Complete and utter bullshit, I too will buy your dinner if you can prove otherwise publically or via PM. Put up or shut up buddy.

Second, words have well accepted meanings. That's just how the world works, you don't need an "ivy league" education to know that. I could unilaterally decide that the word "bread" doesn't mean a baked good made from flour but instead means the cut of mean from the belly of a pig, but that doesn't make it so and it would make me "afool" to go around pontificating on that. The word "educated" literally means having an education. It doesn't mean intelligent, has common sense, or can think straight, although there's an awfully high correlation between education and those things as well as the reverse as you're demonstrating. Therefore claiming that someone who graduated near the top of their class in one of the upper tier universities in the U.S. is not "well educated" as idiotic as attempting to redefine the word "bread". Doubling down on that, well only afool would do that.

BTW, the dead giveaway that you are yourself are not "well educated" is the fact that you appear to be unable to separate your opinions on the positions of Representative Ocasio-Cortez from your personal animus against her. Well that and the fact that you're barely literate and apparently never learned about that whole capitalization thing.
