Donald Trump: It's 'Okay' To Call Undocumented Immigrants 'Rapists'

Donald Trump continues to defend his offensive comments about illegal immigration and border security, claiming in an interview published on Sunday that it was "okay" for him to have described undocumented immigrants as "rapists."

In an expletive-laden interview with The Washington Post's Robert Costa, conducted Saturday aboard Trump's private jet, the GOP presidential hopeful shrugged off the controversy caused by his remarks, which came during his campaign launch last month.

"It is a very rough word. It’s okay to use," Trump told Costa, referring specifically to the word "rapist."

But in Trump's world, there is no truth but now. Here are some of his most glaring flips (or convenient evolutions):

Abortion
Then: On "Meet The Press" in 1999, Trump said he was "very pro-choice." "I hate the concept of abortion," he said. "I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. ... but I just believe in choice."
Now: In an interview with Bloomberg Politics in January, Trump said, "I'm pro-life and I have been pro-life." He said he believed there should be exceptions in cases of rape, incest or the life of the mother.

Guns
Then: In Trump's 200 book "The America We Deserve," he wrote that he "generally" opposed gun control but supported an assault weapons ban and a longer waiting period to purchase a firearm.
Now: At the 2015 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum, Trump said if he became president, "the 2nd Amendment will be totally protected." He told the Web siteAmmoland he does "not support expanding background checks" and said current background checks "don't work."

Healthcare
Then: In an interview with Larry King in 1999, Trump said he was "very liberal when it comes to health care" and that he believes in "universal healthcare."
Now: During his announcement, he called Obamacare "a disaster called the big lie" and said the deductibles were so high they were "virtually useless."

Hillary Clinton
Then: Either Trump or his son donated to Clinton in 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007, he invited her to his 2005 wedding in Florida, where she sat front row, and he's donated at least $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. He also said in an appearance on the Howard Stern show in the mid-2000s that she was a fantastic senator.
Now: On NBC on Wednesday, he called Clinton "the worst secretary of state in the history of our nation" and said she would be "a terrible president."


Party affiliation
Then: Trump changed his party from Republican to Independent Party in 1999, and switched again to Democrat in 2001.
Now: Has been a registered Republican since 2009.

There are also some flips which haven't necessarily been from left to right.

Jeb Bush
Then: In Trump's 2000 book "The America We Deserve," he called Bush "a good man," "bright, tough and principled," and "exactly the kind of political leader this country needs now and will very much need in the future."
Now: On Fox News's "On The Record" this week, he called Bush "pathetic" for his support of Common Core, said his immigration views were "baby stuff."

Press availability
Then: Trump wrote in his 1990 book "Surviving At The Top" that he had been "burned too many times by reporters" and didn't believe in being available for the media anymore.
Now: He grants more interviews than anybody else -- including to the major TV stations on Wednesday and this new interview with the Post publish today and titled, "Trump vows long campaign, won't commit to backing GOP nominee."

Anyway, he's locking down the Stupid vote knowing he's forcing Jeb's hand: If Jeb doesn't pick him as the VP, Trump could run as a third party candidate and it's '92 all over again. This is probably the best scenario for him to get to the big house.
 
The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.


Jeb Bush Slams Donald Trump's 'Rhetoric Of Divisiveness'


COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush lashed out at Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling the real estate mogul turned candidate’s “rhetoric of divisiveness” counterproductive for Republicans in 2016.

“Whether it’s Donald Trump or Barack Obama, their rhetoric of divisiveness is wrong,” the former Florida governor said to a standing-room-only crowd at Barley’s Pub in Council Bluffs, Iowa. “A Republican will never win by striking fear in people’s hearts.”

With protesters standing outside holding Trump signs and chanting, "No more Bushes in the White House," Bush urged the Republican party to be optimistic. The impromptu press conference followed his most recent swing through Iowa.

"Mr. Trump has the right to have every belief he has, if he's going to run, that's fine," Bush said. "I don't want to be associated with the kind of vitriol that he's spewing out these days."
 
What stupid wrong things has Trump said?

Let's start with the most recent ...

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems...they're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists."

"They" are not "sending" anyone over. There is no plan or effort or conspiracy by "them" to send over anyone, let alone the drug dealers and the rapists.

Now to most thinking people with IQs over 90 this would be obvious. But of course this excludes virtually every right wing nitwit in the country. Apologies to the few actual thinking conservatives. I still hold out hope that some still exist somewhere, like the Ivory-billed woodpecker.

Let's look at another thing he has said...

"This very expensive GLOBAL WARMING bull**** has got to stop. Our planet is freezing, record low temps,and our GW scientists are stuck in ice," Trump tweeted early last year, referencing a crew of researchers whose ship had recently been trapped in Antarctic ice.

So, he thinks the planet is freezing because there is still ice on it? What? More typical right wing stupidity.

GOP Congressman Thinks Donald Trump May Have Been Planted By The Democrats


While Donald Trump’s comments on undocumented immigrants and surging poll numbers in his bid for the presidency have some in the Republican Party concerned, one congressman thinks Trump may actually be a phantom candidate planted by Democrats.

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.) shared his theory with Spanish-language media last week, according to the Miami Herald. During one radio interview, Curbelo said Trump could be “a phantom candidate recruited by the left to create this entire political circus.”

In addition to sharing his suspicions on Twitter, the Herald reports that Curbelo pointed to Trump’s relationship with the Clintons as potential evidence during another radio show.


"I think there's a small possibility that this gentleman is a phantom candidate," said Curbelo, who is backing former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the Republican presidential primary race. "Mr. Trump has a close friendship with Bill and Hillary Clinton. They were at his last wedding. He has contributed to the Clintons' foundation. He has contributed to Mrs. Clinton's Senate campaigns. All of this is very suspicious."

Curbelo, a freshman congressman who supports immigration reform, represents a district that has had phantom candidates run in elections before, according to the Herald.
