Fuckism - great!! High honors for this one LOL
)) Couldn't agree more. I worked in the inner circle for over a decade until I finally went into business for my own. Let's face it - people who are power-hungry usually get into power. Then they feed off of you. Basic Origin of Species stuff. But it was also important for me to get off the blame-others-for-life bandwagon and take charge of my own mutations. If I work for others I see it as a temp job, nothing more. Most companies have salespeople running the country determining what your salary will be - why not determine it yourself? Here's how to break out of the rat race:
1. Get an industry handbook which lists all target companies of your desired field. It should list the actual names of dept heads.
2. Call them up and be friendly and tell them you may have a use for their product/service and ask if you can stop by for 5 min. Meet them at their convenience and bring a 1-page color-laser brochure and a business card (your net start-up cost).
3. Be nice and compliment them and their work. Smile, don't interrupt, and joke around as you would with an old friend.
4. Leave them with your card/brochure and thank them for their time.
5. When they need someone for outside work, they will remember you and call you as opposed to researching and interviewing others.
6. Success is all about the way you treat others. Technical competency and education is only about 15% [ref: Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends.." ]
Then kick back and enjoy your evening with the knowledge that your trading will not be interrupted by an impromptu firing squad.
America is not so bad after all.
