USA is a power in decline. If the oil goes to 3 digits and persists, it is not at all hard to imagine a situation where the standard of living in Canada is higher than in the USA.

Oh, I'm in quite a position to correct you little boy living w/parents. I've lived in both countries. Yes on a nominal basis(which is what actually matters) they are slightly behind. Although that doesn't take into account prices. GDP per capita and PPP is meaningless without comparison to prices. Also, we were talking about standard of living which you can find here:

Standard of living and PPP and nominal GDP are different metrics, but then again, a sharp guy like you who I am "not in a position to correct" probably already knew that. :D
 
The US could disband their military and let the rest of the world do what they do.. we'd move up those standard of living lists fast when the "competition" had to man up and start spending significant percent of GDP on defense...

HA HA! Yeah, that way they could "take care of business" and fight frivolous wars over fictitious "weapons of mass destruction". That's way better than having a first world nation. Wow, I was back in the states recently. Let me tell ya, it looks like a dump compared to Europe and Canada. People living in campers, families sharing housing, degreed people working at Target. BUT THEY ARE GONNA FIND THOSE WMDS!! AND THE WORLD SHOULD BE THANKFUL!!! LOL you guys are too funny. :D
 
You got to be kidding me, the standard of living is ten times

higher in Canada, i have lived in various parts of canada as well

as in the states, Jane and Fynch in Toronto is the murder capital

of Canada, and i would walk into the mall located at the corner at

10:00 at night no questions asked. I can also leave my car

running while i run into a store during the winter in 95% of

places in Canada. The only advantage the states has is a

slightly lower income tax rate(which will very soon catch up and

exceed canada's once Nobama gets socialised healthcare) which

is why i am currently choosing to live here, for the every day

citizen it isnt even close Canada has a higher standard of living

hands down. Why don't you educate yourself and start by

driving to a slum in U.S.A, then (assuming you make it out) check

out what a "slum" is in canada, your argument is a joke.

That's because Canada doesn't have the illegal immigrant problems the US has.

They are strain on our healthcare as well as education.

If Canada is so wonderful why aren't all the mexicans going straight up there? It's not as though they couldn't make it.
