I saw the sad news this morning that Meat Loaf has passed away. The man is an icon. I enjoyed his music and his album covers (Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell 2). RIP.

I met the man briefly he played in Ireland, as I once played Rocky in Rocky Horror I felt obliged to buy a backstage as a chance to meet the Meat. He wasn't in a particularly good mood as cold heavy rain and outside floodlit venues are a bad combination but he chatted a few minutes. I was amazed they didn't cancel that night really.

I'm just remembering one of my older brothers has his final art exam (we all have near photographic* memories so art was an easy A) and at lunch at home he put on Bat out of Hell while cramming. One of the afternoon art exam choices was "draw the album cover for a record named Bat out of Hell".


*meaning recalling an image photographically, not necessarily for a long time.
