I would like to visit both places one day,i know New York well, but never been to Russia
True to this day, only because there seem to be no direct flights at all.

Direct flight might look different, great circle time over one hour less to Vladivostok.
Great circle distance is over 1000 km less to Vladivostok.
It's interesting that New York is 3 degrees latitude further South which corresponds to about 330 km extra.
Time difference is the same:7 hours minus and plus

Having flown on the Delta JFK flight about 100 or so times, I can tell you its between 9-10 and a half hours usually (depending on tail wind or head wind). And the Vladivostok flight is over 11.
