The death of Microsoft

Or we could lett TGregg and all his buddies waste their time with comments like this that are appropriate for the YAHOO message boards.

LOL

Getting back to the topic ....

Did anyone see the $soft announcement about their idea of application hosting - That is the the client -$softoffice - interacts with their servers.

How many times have we seen this warmed over idea - since about 1998 ?

BG looked almost desperate during the announcement. This was one of the weakest public technology announcement s by $soft that I have seen since I have been working with them - since about 1990.

I just see more moves by them that look desperate rather than strong ...

You are so right. They are teetering on the edge. Any day now they will declare BK.

Desperate, desperate people. Desperate multi, multi-billionaire.

Sorry, but have a look a the numbers, and you will perhaps understand better : M$ is UNABLE for the moment to make money out of its traditional business (look at the mobile devices, and xbox products, and ask yourself how much MSN costs and how much it brings....)

Microsoft's "traditional business", e.g., Windows and Office, had operating profits totaling $5.4 billion last quarter (not revenues, rather profits).

If you meant to say "non-traditional business", then I agree with the spirit of your comments, even though MSN had revenues of $564 million and operating income of $83 million last quarter (so, it, too, was profitable).

That's exactly what I say. For the moment being, M$ is unable to live on something else than windows and office.

..Which areunder huge attack by a new and different model of software against which they ultimately can not compete unless they restructure their pricing and distribution model: their answer to this competition is to raise prices and make moves to re-enforce customer lockin.

This is an intelligence test: You dont raise prices and try to accelerate lockin with your customers when there is a realiable low cost alternative.

This is the issue with $soft: the current quality of their management.

Quote from TGregg:

I wish y'all would let PRT and his buddies short MSFT and sell calls and buy puts to their heart's content. Dunno why you need to rain on somebodies powerball ticket. ;)
Hey TGregg,
Were you so smart to be long MSFT in those days that BG fooled IBM?
That's what I would call understanding fundamentals.
:D

If only they could be as intelligent as you. You should hire out your brilliance, instead of wasting it on message boards.

That desperate billionaire needs you.

flame, flame, flame.

It's sad... It really is.

A great deal of the people on the web remind me of days back in grade school.

Intelligent debate doesn't include sarcasm.

Microsoft Windows Live? Not Yet--And Maybe Not Ever

Microsoft and its cheerleaders are all running around giving each other high-fives and throwing their hands up in the air and shouting "Hooray for us!" following the announcement of the company's Live initiative. But what, exactly, are they congratulating themselves for? So far, the Live initiative is a big ol' bucket of vaporware, combined with technology, products and service that were already available or announced quite some time ago, and are just being repackaged.

Edit: His comments on the change to the M$ business model are interesting.
