The death of Microsoft

Answer I do.

Now your prediction for going forward earnings for the next 12 quarters ?
Oh I see how the game is played:

What is your prediction for going forward earnings for the next 12 quarters?

Although I don't keep up with the Fortran scene I am surprised at this comment beause at this point I would have guessed that fewer resources are devoted to keeping Fortran compilers up-to-date with the latest processor designs (requiring compiler tweaks) vs C/C++. Also if the difference in speed between compiled Fortran vs C/C++ was that critical wouldnt they just code that portion directly in assembly?

Don't forget that FORmula TRANsactor was designed specifically for mathematical computations, while C was designed to make nifty obfuscated programs ;) and C++ added some objectivity to it all. While a pro could write a faster routine in assembly, an amateur might be better off coding in FORTRAN.

I'm not contending that they will grow and prosper ... you are ..... make your predictions .. assuming you actually have any hard research on which to base you numbers .....

You're such a joke man. You stated that Microsoft is dying. All I am asking is when we should see the begininning of that death.

Your lame attempts to ask me questions (when I never made any bold predictions) and flip the burden of proof on me is transparent and pathetic.

If you make a statement be a man and back it up or shut-up. Don't try to divert attention from your lack of conviction.

Yes. My opinion is that I can write quality numerical code faster in C than fortran ... and if there is a good optimizing compiler (either standard or parallel C) I could get more done in environments where I had the choice. There is still are many Fortran libraries in use ... once they work and are optimized there is little incentive to re-write them...However fortran is starting to go the way of the buggy whip since many numerical problems are ammenable to parallelization ....

Again you prove the difference between man and monkey.

Time for another banana ?

Apparently you think yourself to be clever and funny however you come across as neither.
