The death of listed stock trading

Tea,

Given the fact that the specialist is the only one who can see the crowd of $2 brokers who are the ones holding the real orders that move the mkt, why would you want to be a listed mkt maker specially without the fractions? Would'nt that be a severe handicap?

Thanks

Isn't this already what the Amex does? This is a small negative, but think of the positives for price improvement when you're slaphappy and bailing. The 2 will counteract each other and you'll make out net-net even.

I think you are absolutely right.

If there is no more price improvement I doubt there is any need to go through the specialist. I would post to ARCA or INCA where execution and cancels are much faster. It will make the game just like trading Nasdaq. Lots of people posting and canceling size to manipulate the perception of real supply and demand.
