The Day After

I don't agree with every single thing this writer puts to paper, but I agree with a good portion of it. Additionally, I smile when I think of how mad it will drive kooks like Covertibility and Futurecurrents.

The Day After

I’ve patiently endured for the last few years a lot of lunatic frothing on message boards and in comment sections of various blogs.

I’ve read a lot of proclamations from a sundry of leftists all who mouth essentially the same lickspittle – the right is dead, they are old, they are anachronistic, they are racist, they are misogynist, it is over, the new normal in the USA is some amalgam of third world governance and a bath house. Not so.

This midterm is one of the biggest mandates ever served to a party in the history of America. This cannot be disputed. Barack Obama has been the most coddled, protected, exalted mystic leader in the history of America – look what happened.

This is a rebuke of Obama’s America. This is a rebuke of these breathless commenters who thought they’d finally realized their dream – an America where the parasites, the damaged, and the vengeful were in control.

We are not a country willing to punch holes in our border so that diseased addled criminals can put their tent poles in our soil and fly the flag of la Raza. That has been thoroughly rebuked. Do you hear that McConnell and Boehner?

We are not a country who will force the devout to pay for the killing of the unborn. That has been rebuked.

We are not a country that will pay high school drop-outs, illiterates and people not paying any attention until the rally, a living wage. This has been rejected.

We are not a country that will lower standards so that we are merely in a race to the global bottom academically.

We are not a country that will allow government agencies to use their power like a hammer to beat down and intimidate citizens into approved thought.

We are not a country that will allow unions and career politicians to maraud the public trough as the private sector is taxed into generational bankruptcy.

We are not a country interested in exploring how deranged we can become with the redefining of what a man and what a woman is at the expense of a perfectly functioning society for 99% of the public.

These misfits have had their day in the sun, having fun with us on social media, tying their grievances to the more mainstream, yet mythical, “crisis in the workplace-” the fictional world where women make cents on the dollar for the exact same job a man does.

Apparently 1 in 4 women are not raped. Apparently people do not feel like the gun crisis is one where legal and responsible gun ownership has to be stripped from society, leaving us defenseless from the wilding of emboldened thugs.

Let me remind these keyboard crusaders, paid and amateur, conservatives do not die off. New ones are made every time it looks as if the lunatic fringe might be getting too much power.

America is a tolerant society, giving the wheel to the unlicensed driver for a moment, but we know when it’s time for the adult to take control again.

Yesterday was that day.

Republicans, are you listening?

Republicans, are you listening?

Doubtful, though a few get it. Most don't, including those in leadership. They do not yet realize that this win wasn't about giving them another chance. If they wake up from their egos, they will realize this was the biggest lesser of two evil votes in the history of this country.

That said, do they have another chance? Yes. Will they blow it? Almost certainly...because they don't understand why they won, they only think they do. I am not excited about this win. I will get excited when, and if they begin to undo the damage the radicals have done, and start keeping the promises that got many elected, both this mid-term, and the last (2010). If the leadership in the house and senate were to change, that might be a different story, but that won't happen.

the republicans no longer have to appease the conservatives. For the next two years they just have to make sure they don't piss off any liberals by cutting anything with a good sounding name, like the EPA or the Department of Education or anything...Fill in the blank...funding.

If they ignore the conservatives, they're history next election.
