The dark side of Dubai - expat story

Insanity is rife in the world. Still over 90% of people in the USA, a supposed modern country, are Christian.

"In Saudi, it's hard to be straight when you're young. The women are shut away so everyone has gay sex. But they only want to have sex with boys – 15- to 21-year-olds. I'm 27, so I'm too old now. I need to find real gays, so this is the best place. All Arab gays want to live in Dubai."

WTF?

They admit, however, they have "never" spoken to an Emirati. Never? "No. They keep themselves to themselves." Yet Dubai has disappointed them. Jules Taylor tells me: "If you have an accident here it's a nightmare. There was a British woman we knew who ran over an Indian guy, and she was locked up for four days! If you have a tiny bit of alcohol on your breath they're all over you. These Indians throw themselves in front of cars, because then their family has to be given blood money – you know, compensation. But the police just blame us. That poor woman."

Later, in a hotel bar, I start chatting to a dyspeptic expat American who works in the cosmetics industry and is desperate to get away from these people. She says: "All the people who couldn't succeed in their own countries end up here, and suddenly they're rich and promoted way above their abilities and bragging about how great they are. I've never met so many incompetent people in such senior positions anywhere in the world." She adds: "It's absolutely racist. I had Filipino girls working for me doing the same job as a European girl, and she's paid a quarter of the wages. The people who do the real work are paid next to nothing, while these incompetent managers pay themselves £40,000 a month."

It is an open secret that once you hire a maid, you have absolute power over her. You take her passport – everyone does; you decide when to pay her, and when – if ever – she can take a break; and you decide who she talks to. She speaks no Arabic. She cannot escape.

Good article:cool: really opens your eyes

good article.

once it again it proves our beliefs can be extremely manipulated.

we are weak humans and drink tons of kool-aid, mostly unknowingly

as of right now, i know and believe nothing i read or hear

even that statement i do not believe

or that one

Quote from swtrader:

India is a despicable caste society, that doesnt give a shit about it's lower caste people - that's why the workers get no help from their own embasy when they are held captive in dubai

I actually have some sympathy for their lower caste people

I despise their brahmin varna caste people, who are the H-1b tech class in the USA

They treated their own people like crap in their own country, they dont care about anyone else, and they bring that vicious 3rd world attitude to the USA and undermine us

Well, it's a shame everyone can't be like the Americans, who for centuries have treated their ethnic minorities and indigenous people with impeccable justice :)

Great article -- I wonder if Dubai will make it the top ten of Trader Monthly's best cities for traders again this year :D

Trader Monthly went under a LONG time ago

20 reasons NOT to move to Dubai...........

http://www.escapeartist.com/efam/94/art_20_Reasons_Not_Move_to_Dubai.html

"5. This country prides itself so much on its glitz and glamour that it put a picture of its 7-star hotel on the license plate. Yet, the public toilets in the king-of-bling Gold Souk district are holes in the ground with no toilet paper or soap. Hoses to rinse your nether regions, however, are provided. This results in a mass of water on the floor that you must stand in to pee. Try squatting without touching anything and keeping your pants from touching anything either. Oh yeah. It’s 120 degrees in there too. "

That is just disgusting! I understand the toilet paper part, but how do they clean their hand properly without soap?!?!

Its truly sad, but even though i have never been to dubai I know a few workers there that dont have any other complaints other than its hot there. It could be the journalist was just looking to sell a story and really embelished on this. These type of "slavery" conditions exist everywhere though, even in the US.

Only difference really is that its probably more hidden in the united states and the slaves here are kept under tighter conditions.
