The cure is worse than the disease

Trivial, where do you keep coming up with this made up crap ??

I think the damage to the entire world with the shut downs well out does the damage the virus is doing and way more people are going to suffer / die from the actions that are being taken...

I didn't mean to like your comment. I'm just gonna quote and link a related news item. It's stories like this that are motivating drastic measures be taken...

A day later, Thursday, another brother died, leaving the shocked New Jersey family mourning the loss of a mother and two brothers within a week and a sister who died six days prior — all victims of the coronavirus that has killed more than 200 people in the U.S.

Nobody is saying that younger people are invincible, but they hospitalized, require intensive care or die at much lower rates (and it's well known, too). That feeds the perception among the younger crowd that this is an old peoples illness but younger people are paying for it.

No infectious disease with 2% CFR should be considered trivial. I am merely pointing out that the policy response will likely cause a lot of tensions down the road. There were other public health options that had a much lower economic cost, but would leave more vulnerable people exposed.

Governments consider monetary costs of human lives all the time. In this case, the cost of the additional lives saved seems to be pretty high (e.g. a total shutdown vs isolating vulnerable population). So it is totally possible that the policy choices were made with the political aims in mind.

Maybe they want to put martial law in take away all of our rights, politicians don't normally care this much about Joe public, find out in time, maybe just excuse to raise Tax's to pay it all back later.

They openly admit, no end game, with this shut down policy it'll go on till there is a vaccine so 1year min, that's a LONG time!!

What Ever!!

So what your telling me is, we've screwed up the world and people are still getting sick and dying from this, kinda makes the screwing up the world kinda pointless.

Everyone on the planet ( maybe not me ) Will DIE, Death is part of being alive, stop being so worried about death, shit happens, move on FFS!

100s died same day in car crashes, 100s from cancer, 100s from normal flu, 100's from heart attacks, 100's from just old age, familys wiped out in car crashes or there house burnt down while they slept.

7 Billion people didn't die from C19 today, remind yourself of that, don't focus on the 100 or so in the world that did.

Do you believe in god ofcourse you do, blame her, not me! ( I don't )

by that logic, every economy crashes, every empire turns to dust, so who cares if we have just another recession if it saves lives?

"They" have an endgame. You just don't know what it is. Creating uncertainty and fear in the short term is part of the game plan that facilitates maximum extraction of profits. We are not at the end of the fear cycle yet. The body count needs to get higher and then level off.

Are there exploitative assholes in this world who take advantage of others for their own profit? Yes. Do they come in all sizes? Yes. Why do you think there was a run on toilet paper around the globe? Because there are lot of assholes and assholes need toilet paper.

The cure is worse than the disease. Worse for who?

That's the worry!!

Eventually the numbers, will get some large they'll be more than your brain can't think about then the shock factor will die off, currently 4 people feels personal and scarey, 1Million people dead and errrr just a statistic, nothing to see here.

I was thinking 1 Billion dead, but realised a trick in the numbers being posted ( tested Infected vs Population ) so downgrading to 100Mil most of those being Africa mind.

Body count is all that matters.

Obviously the more testing and diagnosing the lower the mortality rate will become. But in the end, its just body count that matters regardless of if it is compared to total population or diagnosed cases.

Western Europe and the Americas wont be able to do the back tracking and mandatory isolation that Asia was/is able to pull off. So things will get worse before they get better.

Right now daily body counts are rising by increasing percentages in both the EU and Americas and that needs to level off and begin to decrease before the lockdowns are lifted.

Fear is more powerful than greed.
