The Coronavirus Is Here Forever

Round numbers: an order of magnitude less risk of symptomatic infection. 2-4 orders of magnitude less risk of hospitalization upon infection. Near-elimination of the risk of death. Near-elimination of the risk of Long Covid (an issue with at least a quarter of sympatomatic infections without vaccination) because vaccination severely blunts our immune over-reaction to infection. Those massive reductions in risk are a hell of a tangible benefit!

There's a major difference between "less effective against the spread of Delta" and "doesn't protect much against Delta". Reality is the former, you imply the latter. In my province, 97% of hospitalizations for Covid are not vaccinated. It's obvious that vaccination has a major impact.

An important thing to remember is vaccines do not confer immediate peak efficacy and whatever peak efficacy is reached, quickly declines, as evidenced by the stated need for booster shots. Therefore, any claims of “X” protection of a vaccination are dubious at best. Further, any vaccine that suppresses one’s immune system may be beneficial against Covid, but not against other viruses or bacteria, for that matter. As we know, Covid is not the only infectious pathogen out there, right?

This is the exact problem. Whole "hours of research" is what so many do, blissfully unaware of what it actually takes. (just like trading and trading is quite simple)

When my mom was diagnosed with cancer nearly 15 years ago I stopped doing all company work and hit the books. In five months I still did not have a clue and this despite "talking" to many people who had cancer working in hospices for years before and input from many doctors. It's fantastically complex and a year just focused on the bare essentials would not be sufficient. She had six months. I had no chance, I'm in the top 2% of intelligence, hard worker but I had no chance in 100 years. I'm just not smart enough by a country mile but I get that now, so many never do.

This virus is not going away, just change, it was not expected to by anyone qualified and experienced past a certain point in the very early days when containment was a slim to no chance (but still a chance).

I expect at this stage most of your generation know somebody who has not fully recovered in some way. I know a 30 year who was a great cook and she has not recovered 80 percent of her sense of taste/smell in 12 months. Its something she will have to get used to.

There will be another novel virus probably within six years, and another sooner again. The human population growth/crowding is such that just as happens in animal models, the frequency of these pandemics which have been pretty regularly spaced will increase. Otherwise the planet would have had only one species a long time ago. But we don't want to do that. We need to accept its better living through shots and therepeutics that actually work.

Thankfully Elon is building a silvery fleet of beautiful Starships to transport all the great minds to Mars, well all the ones who think they are. Around 1/3 of humanity. He not just planning on leaving them all there and forget about them or nothin'

That was a good one. Blahahaha. I really needed a laugh. You owe me a keyboard.

Out of the people I know, 10 people have gotten covid.

All of them over the age of 65 and they were all high risk with numerous other serious health problems.

Luckily, every single one of them fully recovered within 2 weeks with no long term effects that have been noticed.

Please be specific about the misinformation you are referring to.

I would encourage you to judge for yourself..... honestly look at posts here from covid deniers and anti vaxxers. Compare with criteria that YouTube Twitter and Facebook have published regarding covid misinformation. See?

There's a reason that Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have content restrictions around user-generated covid content and misinformation

Baron,

You can contact me via private message for links to Covid misinformation posted here at Elitetrader.com, plus I have screenshots only because some of these individuals posting the information will strangely deny posting such.
  • Please don't delete this message.
I'm preparing to go out for dinner right now with the family right now at one of our favorite restaurants that have been struggling financially in this Covid Pandemic.

I can post the info to you in private upon my return.

I hope to be able to continue here, you guys are like family. Occasionally dysfunctional lol, but fellow traders.

Baron, in the interest of public safety I urge you to adopt a policy re covid posting similar to other social media platforms.

I cannot financially nor in good conscience support a venue that permits posting related to covid that disagrees with CDC/NIH/US govt policies. I am confident other responsible sponsors agree.

If you will not ban covid misinformation on your forum than discontinue my sponsorship immediately.

Or, do the right thing. The industry watches.

VPhantom, please post your data and the source of your data. Thanks.

Let's take a look at data on the percentage of vaccinated deaths, hospitalizations, and cases in the U.S. from a 24 States & D.C.

Generally above 98% of the deaths in most states are among the unvaccinated.

Similarly over 97% of the hospitalizations collectively are generally among the unvaccinated.

Similarly well above 95% of the cases in most states are among the unvaccinated.

And Turveyd, in regard to your posts here, it seems like you're on a soapbox about the vaccination stuff, which is somewhat annoying. There's nothing wrong with you having an opinion on the matter, but it seems like it's all you ever talk about. When I scroll through your recent post history, I'm not seeing very much trading talk at all, so I'm asking you to please dial it back a notch in the "jab" department because there's not a single person on this website that doesn't know where you stand on the matter. You don't need to restate your opinion 10 times a day on the same subject with more links and an aggressive tone. We get it.
