For those that believe that The Founders coddled and promoted slavery, nothing could be further from the truth. From the outset, The Founders sought to get rid of slavery, initially by having a provision in The Constitution that only allowed The Federal Government 20 yrs to prohibit slave importation. Then at the earliest possible date, Congreff eliminated importation of new slaves. This was just the beginning of how they intended to abolish slavery completely.
