Voters in the states likeliest to decide the 2020 presidential election support the impeachment inquiry that House Democrats began last month, but a majority still opposes impeaching President Trump and removing him from office, according to a New York Times/Siena College survey.
In the six closest states carried by the president in 2016, registered voters support the impeachment inquiry by a 5-point margin, 50 percent to 45 percent. The same voters oppose impeaching Trump and removing him from office, 53 percent to 43 percent.

Note how it does not say that the Speaker of The House or The Chairman of any committee has the power of impeachment. Rather, it states clearly that it is The House of Representatives. That means the full House folks. Thus, a formal impeachment inquiry must be authorized by a vote of the the full House and inquiries are to be conducted in sunshine.

John McLaughlin, a pollster for Trump, put the Bombthrower report on his company's website and emailed it around Washington. In it, McLaughlin said the big polls skew results for Democrats and against Trump.

Indeed, it is a crock.
Although, I would not mind seeing them stack that charge in with the others and send it to the senate if they go that way- which is looking likely. If trump is re-elected they are going to come again and again with this impeachment routine. The more charges that can be outright dismissed because they are previously adjudicated the better.
