Let's have a thread to take a look at the latest fantastic claims...

To start off...

As planet warms, the world’s lakes are heating up even faster

"The study is based on decades of measurements from 235 lakes that contain more than half the world’s fresh water supply. On average, temperatures are rising by about six-tenths of a degree Fahrenheit per decade, a rapid increase by geological standards."

Did the authors of the study magically select 235 lakes where the temperature rose and ignored the rest. How did they not select the Great Lakes to be included in their study.

Here is the raw NOAA data from the Great Lakes. Slice, dice, graph it any way you want over any recent decade time period. The temperatures are not rising six-tenths of a degree Fahrenheit per decade -- they have been very static for decades.

Similarly the temperature of the lakes in my home state of North Carolina have not increased over the past 50 years according to data from the state DENR.

yes, I think the left overplayed their oil card, now they have to deal with all the dead windmill birds (not that they ever gave a shit about birds.) I'm pretty sure all our problems now are caused by Wall Street. And when people finally find out the truth about Wall Street, the left will have to deal with all the dead under invested. Only, unlike the dead birds under their tax subsidized windmills, the dead under invested will still be living soaking up every penny of our tax dollars. But somehow, there will always be enough energy and money for them to fly to a conference to talk about it.

Ummm, the Great Lakes are only one part of the world. North Carolina is also just one part. The US is just 7% of the area of the world and it's temps have not gone up as other parts of the world.

Just stop.

So the largest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Superior -- which is not warming -- is not worthy of being included in the study. Yeah, whatever. Let's just pick and choose a mere 235 lakes that support our assertions and ignore thousands of others.

Good to see that you finally admit that the scientists picked and chose to select only the 235 lakes that support their assertion.

As I noted earlier, none of the Great Lakes are warming, and I provided the raw data to support my assertion.

The problem with your logic is the data referring to the Great Lakes is raw data. Raw data does not reflect reality. You need to ship that data off to Al Gore and company and let them make their adjustments then you will see a clear warming trend in the data. After the warming trend is established a letter will go out demanding more grant money from the government.
