The CL/NQ experiment

lol, you're not alone.
I had exactly the same yesterday, trading nq and cl.
18 trades. 16 losses. 2 winners.
down $700 on the day.

So far today i'm 8 trades in. 7 losers! (all CL trades.)

Don't stress, though ;)
If more people were honest, you'd realise you were far from alone!

Does your trading plan commonly produce such large strings of losses or are these outliers?

Did not trade well until 11AM.
Non of the entries were by the rules.
Today was the EVENT.
I came out on top.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be focused again.

Gabe, Could you explain what the symbols on the charts represent? I see yellow arrows, white arrows and circles.
The circles are the area on the 5min chart that I should have taken a trade.
A RIGHT pointing White triangle is a SHORT entry.
A RIGHT pointing Yellow triangle is a LONG entry.
A LEFT pointing White triangle is an exit from a Long.
A RIGHT pointing Yellow triangle is an exit from a Long.
You can look at it also as WHITE is BUY and YELLOW is SELL.
If the connecting line between 2 triangles is GREEN - the trade was profitable.
If the connecting line between 2 triangles is RED - the trade was NOT profitable.
The arrows just help with the above.

I personally know a guy who made last year about 650K and he has over 10 trades a day.

Do you really know him personally??? Have you met in person, been to his house? I hear comment like this from people in forums, and usually they don't know them personally at all. Usually they are not referring to personal acquaintance but to a anonymous forum or chat person who claims success... and are just seeing what they want to see in them...

About his chat you say.....
** His actual trading and what he wrote in a manual he published were different
** the rules were nested so deep (if then statement like) that the condition rarely materialized
** he was posting his trades with delays

This is enough to make anyone raise an eyebrow..... I don't know who this guy is but is it possible that he is not actually trading, and instead making profits from a vending operation?? Why is he posting trades with delays? Maybe givng himself a few xtra ticks here and there to pad the stats??

Maybe this guy has given you unrealistic expections? It seems to me some things dont add up about him. Just keep in mind that when you are dealing with anonymous online people..... you have no idea who is on the other end of your correspondences, or what is going on in their trading account.

I called him on a land line several times and I wrote about other things in my original post.
It's up to you to make up your mind about what I said.
From what I have seen, I have no reason to doubt him.

A disastrous week ended.
I will write about what I think happened later.
I think I will use the Same Car Syndrome as an analogy.

Execution charts (that generate the equity charts) will be much more useful. Something to describe your execution efficiency. I sound like a broken record, but near 100% execution should come first.. THEN at least one moving part is no longer "moving".

Points for each good setup taken... deduction for those not taken..

Points for pre-market level analysis... etc..

I posted the performance charts because I said I will do that once a week. So I did.
I will post the execution charts today or tomorrow as promised yesterday.

This is a good idea.
I remember vaguely someone writing about a system of grading their trades but I can't find where I saw that.
