Based on the info in this article, it makes sense on why I remember this intense cidada invasion in the late 1980s in NY. They were just EVERYWHERE! Was about 34 years ago.

Nothing spells summer like grilling and watching headless cicadas fall on your grilling meat as the birds chomp off their heads while on the wing, lol!

Man I remember the 2004 one we were at a park BBQing and had a blanket under a tree and those fuckers were falling and landing on the blanket all over the place.... like a nightmare insect invasion...lost my appetite fast.
