The NFL plans on playing "Lift Every Voice and Sing," commonly known as the Black national anthem, prior to kickoff of its Week 1 games, according to The Undefeated's Jason Reid.

"Lift Every Voice and Sing" is expected to be performed prior to "The Star-Spangled Banner," according to The Undefeated.

At on time we were the “United” States, people came here the great melting pot. Those days are gone.

We also need to include the Hispanic national anthem, the Asian national anthem, the Native American national anthem ...... who am I leaving out. don’t want to be seen as racist?

Kneeling in disrespect precludes the object of disrespect is valid.

We pay respect to the National Anthem as it is a symbol of this country, which is made up of many different ethnicities. To my knowledge there is no “Black Nation”. What are it’s borders? It’s officials, Head of State?

To separate and pay homage to one specific people, one specific race, skin color is by textbook definition, racist.

Acknowledging racial discrimination exists, agreed. But it exists everywhere and is not limited to black/white issues. Promoting those issues and placating one side in this fashion only creates division.

Maybe we should have separate schools, separate water fountains, and separate seats on the buses so that black folks don't need to see or be near whitey.
