Biden Covid Team Derides Trump Plan While Borrowing Playbook

President Joe Biden and his top advisers have derided the Trump administration’s playbook for distributing coronavirus vaccines, but so far have made only modest changes to the plan that’s meeting their target pace of more than one million shots a day.

But while Biden’s approach to the virus -- frank warnings about the pandemic, mask mandates on federal property -- is a reversal from Trump’s policies, his administration’s distribution of vaccines so far looks little different from that of its predecessor.

The Biden administration has said they’ll order new doses,
but will do so by exercising options in contracts negotiated by the previous administration, which thought it premature to do so. They say they’ll use the Defense Production Act, which Trump used repeatedly. Rather than a total overhaul, they have otherwise made course corrections and modest shifts. Data released Friday by Johnson & Johnson will fuel hopes that a third vaccine soon could hit the U.S. market.

But the biggest pieces of the distribution effort remain unchanged, undercutting claims from some Biden advisers that they inherited no plan.

“What we’re seeing here is them marching through the playbook of Operation Warp Speed,” added Michael Pratt, a former Health and Human Services official under Trump. “Something cannot simultaneously be a dismal failure and have already accomplished the ‘ambitious goal’ you set.”

Please post a link to the Trump administration’s COVID response plan or just go home and admit they had nothing.

Just read the article. I don't need anymore proof than that.

You are simply wrong and refuse to admit to it.

If there is was no plan, how in the hell were they already administering approx. 1 million vaccines a day? That in and of itself makes your claim total and complete nonsense.

Just read the article.

The article is meaningless— post a link to Trump’s COVID response plan or admit they had no plan.

Just because Trump badly tried to promote that he was going to use the Defense Production Act is not an indication that they really had a “playbook”.

WRONG!

This Bloomberg article destroys your argument and proves the stating Trump didn't have a plan is complete and total nonsense that really isn't even worth discussing.

Furthermore, you absolutely refuse to quantify the difference.

If Trump had no plan and they were administering 1 million vaccine shots a day, how many more shots will be administered under Biden's plan? I mean there has to be a substantial difference. Simply guesstimate the difference!

Here is one of your go to libtard arguments used against you.

or just go home
But, I am already at my home.

With no plan, how is the US outpacing Germany, France and the EU overall? You said that we should have plans like those countries had.

The U.S. has administered 8.3 doses per 100 people, trailing the U.K. and Israel yet outpacing Germany, Canada, France and the EU overall, according to Bloomberg’s Vaccine Tracker.

Especially since it is a defense official (General Perna) who basically came out later stating they had no plan... and whatever they did was just a continual string of errors with no support from the White House.

What!? Why is Biden leaving the exact same people in charge of distribution if it sucked so bad and there was no plan at all?

Why is Biden keeping Perna, a person with no plan, in charge of the plan?

Biden has kept other key Trump personnel in place, including General Gustave Perna, who co-lead Operation Warp Speed alongside Slaoui, focusing on distribution.

FEMA asks Pentagon to ready as many as 10,000 troops to support nationwide vaccine push

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has asked the Pentagon to ready as many as 10,000 troops to support 100 COVID-19 vaccination sites nationwide, with the goal of administering 450,000 vaccinations a day.

The federal government envisions 50 "mega" vaccination sites capable of administering 6,000 shots per day, in addition to 50 "large" vaccination sites providing 3,000 shots per day, according to defense officials.

The first of the FEMA-powered vaccination sites are expected to be operating by mid-February, a senior White House official told CBS News, and will scale up as vaccine production intensifies in the coming months.

A lot of "made for TV drama and showcasing" going on there.

"The federal government envisions 50 "mega" vaccination sites capable of administering 6,000 shots per day, in addition to 50 "large" vaccination sites providing 3,000 shots per day, according to defense officials."

Yeh, well, the country already does 3 million flu shots a day during peak flu season each year so those numbers look pretty lame to me. Since most of the country is out of work and closed down now, every town has a mall that can easily be converted and is being converted into covid vaccination centers. Just get the goddam vaccine out and skip all the Pentagon shiite.

Just get more vaccine out there. We don't need all the tanks and army visuals that the dems seem to love these days. There are places that have messed up in every country, certainly including this one, in the early days of distribution, but we also have lots and lots and lots of places that have figured things out and just want and need more vaccine. So concentrate on the vaccine. I am pretty sure that Joe will want to have some vaccine airlifted and dropped by parachute in some communities as though it is the invasion at Omaha Beach or something. Great visuals. Defense Production Act, blah, blah, blah.

More vaccine, less trying to make it look like the Biden administration is doing something bold.

The military and FEMA's response is not always without glitches either. Think Katrina.

Sometimes you need to less drama and more working things out on the ground which Americans are perfectly capable of doing. Americans want covid to go away and/or their vaccine. Finding ways to make Joe look like he is new and different from Trump is a different goal that only the dem political hacks care about.
