The Biden COVID vaccine

Not real good for a president, early in their term, who is taking undue credit for bringing the virus under control
------The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll, for Tuesday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Biden’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.-----

Fauci backs Kamala Harris, says Trump White House left ‘vague’ COVID vaccine plan
https://nypost.com/2021/02/21/fauci-defends-vp-says-trump-left-vague-covid-vaccine-plan/

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday said the Trump administration left a “vague” plan for coronavirus vaccine distribution — as he defended Vice President Kamala Harris’ claims that President Biden’s team had to “start from scratch” when it entered office.

Harris made the claim on “Axios on HBO” last Sunday evening, and the infectious diseases expert was asked about the remark this week during an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

Anchor Chris Wallace asked: “Is that true?”

“The one thing that we can say is that the infrastructure and the capability in the planning of getting the vaccines distributed into the arms of people was really quite vague, as I’ve said before. I mean, obviously it wasn’t that nothing was done because we developed the vaccine, we got them manufactured and they were shipped,” Fauci said.

He said critics should give Harris “a break” because she didn’t “mean from scratch.”

“I mean, obviously, we had vaccines that we were giving to people, even before the end of the year. So what she was referring to and I’m sure you can ask her again that she’ll say it was the process of smoothly getting it into people’s arms, which was a difficulty, very early on, we’re just getting over that right now,” Fauci continued.

Since taking office, Fauci said Biden has been trying to expand distribution of the vaccine by getting it to community centers, pharmacies and to mobile units as well as enlisting health-care workers to get the shots in people’s arms.

“I believe the vice president was referring to the fact that if you’re talking about those things that I just mentioned, they were not in place when the president came in following the inauguration,” Fauci said.

In his remarks at a Pfizer manufacturing site in Michigan on Friday, Biden also pointed fingers at his predecessor.

“Just over four weeks ago, America had no real plan to vaccinate most of the country. My predecessor — as my mother would say, ‘God love him’ — failed to order enough vaccines, failed to mobilize the effort to administer the shots, failed to set up vaccine centers. That changed the moment we took office,” he said.

Fauci is a weasel.

He resisted the claim that Biden had to start from scratch because it impugned him and all the good work that others had done.

Then he found it difficult to reconcile that statement with Harris's statement, while reporting to Joe. So even though her comment was not directed just at distribution he went ahead and said that that was probably what she meant. In that way he can support her while not supporting her statement to include his work and the vaccine work.

He is a political weasel now.

70 percent back Biden's handling of coronavirus: poll
https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...cent-back-bidens-handling-of-coronavirus-poll

A new poll by The Associated Press and NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows that a majority of Americans approve of President Biden’s handling of the coronavirus.

The poll shows that 70 percent of respondents back Biden’s response to the pandemic, with 97 percent of Democrats and 44 percent of Republicans approving the president's work on the issue.

The number of COVID-19 deaths and cases per day have fallen since Biden took office, though there are some signs they are now plateauing. New variants of the disease have also sparked concerns that cases could again rise.

Biden could also be benefiting from the distribution of vaccines across the country. Sixteen percent of the nation's population has now had at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to statistics kept by The New York Times. Vaccinations across the country have also led to more optimism for the economy and a growing stock market.

In the poll, 60 percent overall approved of Biden's performance as president so far. The results split along party lines, with 94 percent of Democrats approving of his work while only 22 percent of Republicans did.

Biden’s approval on the economy was split across party lines as well with 88 percent of Democrats approving and 82 percent of Republicans disapproving. Overall, 55 percent approved of Biden’s work on the economy.

The partisan divide was also apparent in polls conducted at the end of former President Trump's term.

In December, when Trump was still president, a majority of Republicans approved of his handling of the economy while a majority of Democrats disapproved, The Associated Press reported.

Although Biden said the economy can not completely reopen because of the pandemic, many states are starting to lift their strict COVID-19 restrictions.

Texas is lifting its mask mandate and taking away all capacity restrictions from its restaurants.

Connecticut will take away their capacity restrictions on indoor activities this month, although mask mandates and social distancing are still required.

The poll surveyed 1,434 adults between Feb. 23 and March 1. The margin of error is 3.4 percentage points.

The economy remains the high point for Trump in the eyes of the public: 53% say they approve of the way he handled the economy, the only issue tested for which he earns majority approval. The major crises of his final year in office -- the coronavirus outbreak and race relations -- earn sharply negative reviews. Just 34% approve of how he handled race relations, and 36% of the coronavirus. Approval is similarly low for the signature issue of Trump's 2016 campaign for the presidency, immigration. Just 36% approve of how he handled that.

There was one place, however, where the Trump Presidency arguably out ranks all other presidencies, and that is in the level of general corruption. Probably more cabinet officers in the Trump administration were referred to DOJ by the inspectors general than in any other administration, including Harding's and Nixon's. The Barr DOJ did not follow through with prosecution in any of these incidences, but instead swept the referrals under the rug.* So the Attorney General himself must be considered as corrupt as the other cabinet officers. Quite a Crime family it was, with Trump at the head...

*Public pressure did, thank god, result in resignations when in a few instances the charges leaked to the press. But other cabinet officers continued to serve after the I.G.s referred their findings to the DOJ.
