A perspective that starts out with "The founders of America (the Puritans).." and contains such nonsense as "The U.S. Constitution is just a piece of paper with signatures on it.", is going to be as much balance as no balance at all.
That style of factually absurd incorrect and historically inaccurate commentary is all religious argument ever has.
American Founding and Law came about despite religion not because of it. The Constitution is the most important legal document there is and of course, Virginia had already been founded in 1607, 23 years before the Puritans ever thought of following suit in 1630.

Oh look the rabid atheist rewriting america history again and leaving out the importance of religion in our nations founders lives and the fact that freedom from King... and the rights of the individual came about because the Protestant revolution America was part of.

Up to 1776 US law was much the same as English law. It is after that date that the US tried to make its law special.
There is currently a website which hands out awards for ridiculous decisions now made by US courts sometimes. Remember the spilling of the coffee onto the lap of a person in a drive in cafeteria ? She sued for millions and won as far as I remember it even though it was her own fault. Fortunately this was a one off.
