The bible isnt violent, people are violent. If you are against religion because of the violence, then by the same logic you MUST be against governments, yet you have a horse in that race, dont you? Every country has a history of killing people from other countries to conquer their land. So if you arent going to choose a horse in religion, why do you choose a horse in government?

All human language is limited and constantly evolving (like physicists had to steal from James Joyce to name subatomic particles "quarks").

If religions believe God is All-Knowing, then since language is imperfect and limited, anything in a book that a human can read is Dumbed-Down in the extreme, vs what God would know and understand.

So what do people do? Kill each other over an extremely dumbed-down version of something in a book....

if god is all knowing shouldnt his book be filled with all the knowledge in the world?
the bible lectures people on what to wear and what to eat but it lacks a simple command that has caused millons of unwanted deaths. "thou shalt boil the water". why? because germs were not a concept the ignorant men who wrote the bible understood.
