The Best Trading Proverbs

a few from the old floor days.....

just remember that you are replaceable - no one in the market really gives a shit if you are here or not (there are multiple versions of this)

"never going down again in our life time" --- always used to hear this one when something was having a dead cat bounce

"panic early or panic late, just dont panic all the time"

"when in doubt get out" --- I have heard this from women describing men as well "when in doubt it stays out"

"the first cut is the cheapest"

"dont be a prick for a tic" - rare but good broker advice

I searched ET for a proverbs thread, but didn't find one.

After much reading, learning and practising it seems much of the best advice is found in proverbs such as trade with the trend.

What other proverbs (or sayings) deserve recognition?

That is one of the best;;trade with the ttrend, friend.

Another good one, but people may hate you if you find fault with thier real estate,[especially if its home sweet home] when buying. Bad,, bad says the buyer,; then going his way, he boasts, Proverbs 20;14ASV.

PS= LIke Joshua Lukeman says in Market Makers Edge book;
when trading with the trend, that puts percentages in your [my] favor.......

"I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people."
-Sir Isaac Newton

said the above after he lost 20k GBP in the South Seas bubble...
He first sold his shares at 7k but as shares climbed re-entered...

The market is what the market is. The market does not know if you are long or short and the market does not give a flying donkey's dick if you are long or short. Don't make emotionally-driven mistakes over something for which you have absolutely no control.:)

If it ain't going up don't buy it.
corollary If it's going up don't sell it.
I think it's mine but who ever really knows.
