The Best and Worst Presidents (According to the Stock Market)

You do realize, that parties have shifted, Lincoln would be a Democrat/Progressive today, while conservative "religious" south became republican.

There was no shift.

Comments:
"Democrats still can't explain why former Senator from West Virginia Byrd was a Grand Wizard of the KKK."

"The Democrats haven't changed one bit since the days of legalized slavery - They are still committed to mass importing a steady flow of cheap workers to do all the donkey work for them; for as little wages as possible. Democrats are by their very nature elitist snobs who believe that any form of manual labor is far beneath them."

Sorry to say, but you are misinformed, as most conservatives are because you watch and read only things that agree with what you want to believe.

For your information, counties that represent 2/3 of US GDP, voted for Clinton last election. GOP base gets to be lazy from Dem hard labor. But sure, go ahead and keep ignoring reality, and keep on living in your dream world.

He's willfully blind to anything outside his echo chamber, I wouldn't waste any time on him.

It's pretty ridiculous to evaluate a president's performance based on the performance of the stock market.

You could be the most business-friendly president in the history of the country, but then a 9/11 or Pearl Harbor, or Hitler marching into Poland happens and the markets are completely thrown for a loop.

Conversely, you could be a complete dunce, yet get inaugurated during the darkest days of a recession, and the stock market may perform well solely because the business cycle had to turn, regardless of what you did.

I think a far better measure of a president's performance would be what they promised on the campaign trail vs what they actually accomplished, and the overall prosperity of the country (i.e., how many Americans are sleeping on park benches today compared to when you took office?)
The fundamental attribution error is a well established concept in behavioral psychology, unfortunately most outside that field and those with formal business training seem to have even heard of it much less understand it.

I remember this article from some time ago...

Here's the quote that sums up the entire pointlessness of the idea of the article. It is self-immolation for the author.

"As was the case with Gerald Ford, it came down to timing. President Obama had the good fortune of taking office right as the worst bear market since the Great Depression was nearing its end. There was nowhere for the market to go but up. That’s fantastic timing."

Exactly. It is just by happenstance that POTUSes have markets perform the way they do during their term.
'
Trump on the other hand has shot himself in the foot, so to speak, with his trade war.

Voter perception about the economy, household buying power and employment opportunity is more important than the stock market levels. Otherwise Jimmy Carter would have been elected to a second term.
I found it fascinating to study the Carter years now as an adult after having my initial beliefs on his administration completely determined by my very conservative parents view of him (which incidentally always confused me because he was the most true Christian of recent Presidents but my Evangelical parents seemed to hate him). I can see how the painful necessity of Volcker's high interest rates to control runaway inflation wasn't apparent at the time and would be attributed to Carter (who to be fair did appoint him), but sadly it seems most didn't go back to figure out what was really going on and my parents hate him to this day. To his credit (and likewise George W's credit) he's been nothing but gracious since, he's a better man than me!

IMO the Federal Reserve controls the economy more than Presidents.

The Fed raised rates on Ronald Reagan up to 21%, for instance.

So basically it's all mumbling from you and failed to come up with something to counter my claims. Now you are shifting the topic to voting. Smooth.
