the basic flaws in TA

Quote from Grob109:

I've interviewed and hired a support person to get out three books in that period. The trading stuff is # 3.

Haven't you mentioned the whole volume for acronyms is #2?

No, I do not.

But in discussions here we are getting stuff ready to go using the usual culling and getting stuff to an editable state electronically.

We are also redoing lots of video tapes to get them into CD formats.

Scanning records and stuff will proceed from the most informal to the regular brokerage prints, etc.

Its a case of reducing nearly fifty years of stuff in tons of boxes down to a regular book plus multi media and software support.

My posts are just run on copy that may be good for sanwiching in among the more formal stuff I have written as not for publication pieces.

Obviously as seen by the general viewpoint of my orientation it has to be a give away to those few who might want to have the result of a formal effort.

thanks for asking.

I am reviewing the SSA staff training manuals for the "extra help" part of medicare D presently. There happens to be a list of acronyms at the end. the list is for staff so they can explain to the older citizens what extra help means and how it is done and coordinated.

The book has been written but not published. Its a bit difficult to read as there is no table of contents or index :)

edit: actually I guess it has been published in the broadest sense of the term.

So the HTS's KIHF is OTHGF due to LIF and KOB, at KIR and WKH all KODs and GKRs are required to CPF and XUN daily.

In case any new or existing staff who may not follow the above acronyms, please contact WSK or TSM at LRF to get an updated KTW - OJD manual. TIA. :D

Today the basic "flaws" with TA were that the Bollinger gave 5 very clear entering signals giving about 15-20 points gains each time for YM traders, and the 6th time when it failed there was a descending triangle to warn, oupps, another TA tool!!! (giving another 20 points drop)

How sillly of me using these flawed TA devices! :)

hi darkhorse,

just when it starts getting fun, you leave......

you are not asking the correct questions--- the correct questions would be: (among many others)

1. how many funds of the top trend followers failed? as you know, ALL of the top claimed trend followers are operating multiple funds across a universe of instruments and perhaps methods. the failed funds ( ask their investors ) are swept under the carpet and the winners hailed/promoted to no end. one needs to consider ALL the funds ever started by the top 10 or whatever trend managers, not just the winners.

2. how many market players are/were there? i venture to guess that you dont know. the public are trend followers by default--uisng the commonly accepted definition of trend following as buying new highs/selling new lows--if this method works, why are there so few traders that rise to the top.

i was surprised to see the personal attacks on my abilities. i am well versed in mathematics, and have world class contacts/ associates to consult should i get stumped on an issue. you really seem to be narrow casting in this regard--very unlike the darkhorse of yore.

best,

Surf,

What's going on? I was once a great admirer of you and your

trading acumen. I know you changed your outlook and trading

strategy, that is not the problem and why I am writing.

I just saw the new edition of "Trend Following"--- YOU are listed

in the acknowledgements--with Ann Rand ,John Henry, and Ed Seykota!

What

the F, Surfer? Are you playing some kind of game? We all know

what you think of TA trend following, yet you are thanked along

with the greats of trend following TA. Level with me, dude,

what's up?
