I'm thinking that the universe is filled with the energy associated with "conscious" emotions that humans feel. As such most of you like owning material things because those material positions came from the material science of your ancestors. The "ambient" energy of the universe is EM radiation from the trillions and trillions of stars that exist and are not absorbed by any celestial mass, but just radiate to infinity.
Mental thought energy does not exist on the physical plane beyond our own skull. It does not radiate to the universe.
I'm sure that's what you believe, and I'm sure you know what happens after a person dies, lets say it's an even plane that radiates its energy in the universe...

It was taught to him by Babaji, who was then learned by Lahiri Mahasaya, who then taught it to Yogananda.
