The adventures of a new Trader

Sorry about your Aapl trade. But hey, at least you got some pretty good profits with quite a number of your other trades such as VLO, DNA etc and overall this year you are doing well. So since nobody has said well done lately, I thought I just mentioned it. We cannot always get every trade right, we just learn and try to improve on it and hopefully not to make the same mistakes.

I agree, you are doing much better. Which is to be expected as you gain more experience. The only I would do is not to move your stop. Its actually good that you still got stopped out of you apple trade. Why? If the market would have rewarded you for violating your rules ( moving stop ) it would have reinforced that behavior, which is something you dont want. Eventually it would catch up to you. Just stick to your rules, some trades work some dont.

I thought this stock, like DNA was over priced, and I still do, but the market thinks otherwise. I canceled my stop and I have no regrets. Moving on. Chart not posted because theres too small a difference between the P/L.

Looking at VLO today, I feel like shit for selling it. I bought ISRG and I didnt have the funds, so I sold my vlo position to cover my negative balance, when I could have just sold my ISRG position in the first place which I did (chart not posted).

review:

I bought this stock as a break-out play, but I forgot to check for earnings! . I found out shortly after that they were reporting after the close ( feb 1st), and expectations were positive. I was like, what the hell, its a small 80 share position anyway with my stops at 49 (1.71 risk). I end up making 2.77 off the gap.

I bought csco monday morning at the open because I was excited about their earnings. Later after the close, I felt bad that I violated my rule, so now I'm selling into the open tomorrow and waiting for earnings rather than jumping the gun.
