The ACD Method

No, I think he is saying the opposite with regard to the correlation of the GBP/JPY and S&P 500 (i.e. they are very correlated). The reference to risk on vs risk off is a way of characterizing different trades as the expression of the the same theme. In this case, if the environment is risk on, you could buy the S&P 500 or be long the GBP/JPY pair (he added the chart to show the similar price action of the two side by side). In a risk on environment, the JPY will tend toward weakening as traders borrow in JPY due to low rates (funding currency) and invest in risky assets around the world. While I do not have an opinion on the GBP, given the GBP/JPY is effectively short JPY, it is not surprising to me that the pair tends to correlate positively with a risk on strategy.

Alot of ground has been covered in the thread, Mav laid out two macro trades long USDJPY and X (Us Steel) using ACD both were monster trades, I would hunt those down.

Sir Robert, I don't have them. I am sorry. I haven't been updating my sector ETF's the last few months as I have been working on a large project and simply have not had the time. I don't see myself doing updates on them for a while. I'm certain whatever values you have they are absolutely correct down to the Yen. :)

Hello Mav,

Okay then, if the "Large project" is trading related: What can you tell your loyal followers? :)

Re FX, a couple of books Mav recommended to me recently;

Foreign Exchange - A Practical Guide to the FX Markets by Tim Weithers
Currency Trading and Intermarket Analysis by Ashraf Laidi

Hello Mav,

Okay then, if the "Large project" is trading related: What can you tell your loyal followers? :)

It is trading related and I prefer not to talk about it. There are plenty of other things I have been talking about for the last 1400 pages though. :)

where are all ACD members gone the whole thread has be quiet , i think it time to ask some newbie questions:p . i was gonna ask since the ACD method is quantitative is it OK, to overlay macro-economic concepts/views alongside ACD? Also i hear a some traders talking about sentiment, how would one use sentiment to his or hers advantage in trading and on separate note how come some many ET members are so aggressive , i was lurking around some threads lol the amount abuse thrown around is crazy :confused::eek:

yes to your first question, see the first two weeks indicator in ACD book, hint Nasdaq flat year to date. Sentiment to me is data driven, polling traders is pretty subjective. LOL to your last question, ask Baron. This place is filled with lunatics.:)

I'm here. Ask away any questions you have. I noticed thread members here are very streaky. They post in clusters then disappear for awhile.
