If you're talking to me, I don't believe I ever said citing anonymous sources should not be allowed. I know for certain I've laughed at the media always making up random comments to defame or slander someone with absolutely no proof whatsoever of the statement being true, and then falling back on the "according to an anonymous source that wished to not be named".

When a "journalist" says something like (and I'll make up something completely here) "DeSantis was yelling at his aide and pissed off about something according to an unnamed source that wished not to be named." that's total bunk. Not because it might or might not be true, but because anyone can make that claim. The "reporter's" mom could have said that. That's not news.

Taibbi clearly has an inside source because of all of the specific data and information he has uncovered. For a sitting politician to try to get him to expose his source so they can exact vengeance is clearly outside of what the 4th Estate represents. There is a real difference between a leak and plain ol' hearsay, which is what most of today's "journalists" report.

But I suspect you know the difference and are just being cheeky.
