The 2012 "First Debate" thread. Lets all try to keep this to one thread.

Quote from Covertibility:

This election is going to be whether you want Medicare or a voucher system.

Vote for the black guy and keep Medicare or vote republican and hope that voucher will cover you. That's one helluva choice for the tea party people!

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that trivial.

The reality is vote for Romney and stem the spending craziness stating with Obamacare giving a chance for this country to survive fiscally past 2016, or vote for Obama, leave Obamacare intact and watch us drive over the cliff of no-return with unsustainable spiraling debt.

Found some of these choice comments back in May of this year. The funniest one is from AK47 - someone quote it so he can see (since he refuses to engage).

I know there's a good one from RCG out there, I remember reading it. I can't find it at the moment, though :(

Quote from Brass:

Good post.

I can't wait to see Paul ("Not in This Lifetime") Ryan in a vice presidential debate. Oh, we'll have such fun! But then, Mitt ("I Picked Who?!") Romney promises to entertain as well.

Quote from AK Forty Seven: - 5-17-12

He is,the good news for Obama is that Romney will be easiest debate challenge he has ever faced. Romney is a disaster in debates when he is forced to go off script.Obama owned McCain in debates on McCain's supposed biggest strength, foreign policy, the same McCain that owned Romney in the 2008 debates.Obama is going to make Romney look like a bigger fool then he did McCain and The GOP House

Quote from Tsing Tao: - 5/17/12, in response to IQ47's previous post.

It was FAR easier to debate a bumbling McCain in a year where Obama was the guy going against Bush policies than it will be to debate Romney when Obama has very little to show over the past few years. FAR easier. Don't delude yourself.

Someone should start a "Greatest Hits" thread.

Oh, and my favorite quote from the entire debate was from Obama:

(in reference to the discussion on jobs, speaks to the moderator) "You may want to move on to another topic."

:D

Yeah i remember back during the primaries, when alot of us had already conceded the fact that Obama was probably going to win, so people were cheering for Newt, if for nothing else, because he was going to tear a strip off Obama's ass.

Then all the fanboys, like Brass, and RCG came out and said that Obama would smoke Newt in the debates and it wouldnt even be close.

The fact of the matter is Obama has never been good at speaking off the cuff, he can deliver a speech like no one else, but every time he starts commenting with unprepared remarks, he isnt even close to the same guy.

If Newt was out there last night, he would have put a hatchet in Obamas back.

Quote from bigarrow:

It's not like football where there are points. In my opinion it's basically a draw. No one changed the way they are voting because of the debate. They both scored points with the undecided I'd guess.

It's quite entertaining watching these attempts at damage control. Even my democrat friends (I only have a few, mind you) came into work this morning downtrodden and depressed.

I just cant stop laughing at AK47's comment. "Romney will be the easiest debate challenge he (Obama) ever faced" ....what a laugh riot!

The way the debate ran last night was right in Romney's wheelhouse, they didnt get into to much back and foreword banter with one guy shouting down the other, whereby it would have been more personal, it remained very controlled, with Romney simply spitting out numbers. Thats Romney's home turf.

Where Romney could run into trouble in the future debates is if the debate becomes too personal with the two candidates having a 1 on 1 conversation with each other, and no moderation, like when he tripped out on the 10k bet in the republican primaries.
