The president was great in the area of taxes, and in highlighting the lack of specifics by Romney.

Romney interrupted the President a bit too much. It helped him to appear more energetic, but it came at the cost of being too aggressive and even hostile.
The President was not aggressive, which has helped him to be gracious and Presidential, but at the cost of being less energetic. Maybe he thought if he were to appear aggressive, it would have cost him.
