My sense is that the investigation of Trump's financial transactions is just now getting under way. The Russian thing may be wrapping up. But on the other hand we don't have Little Donny indicted yet for lying to Congress. That's coming. Once we get members of Trumps immediate family indicted, I will take that as a sign Mueller is about to wrap it up, and turn over his findings to Barr or the SDNY. , Underwood, or the Manhattan Prosecutor.there needs to be a defined timeline

The winning party in an election is powerless to stop an investigation without concurrence of a court. The aggrieved party can, should , and sometimes does take their case to court. That's where these issues , if they are substantive , are decided. When there is not enough evidence of fraud that could reasonably have affected the election outcome the court is not going to be inclined to hear the case. These are usually Federal matters because there is usually a constitutional issue. Thus you can get them out of State Courts and into the Federal District and Appeals court system. My sense is that in most of these cases the discovery phase will end up being dispositive toward one side or the other. The defendant will always try to get them thrown out.When federal prosecutors state they have ignored reports of voter fraud for years because it was at the very bottom of the investigative priorities --- then this is a problem. If a citizen reports voter fraud and a federal District Attorney has dozens or hundreds of reports of voter fraud then an investigation needs to be performed to preserve the citizens' confidence in our election system.
EDIT --> There are no disinterested parties involved in voter fraud investigation -- it is all politics. Take a look at North Carolina which has a long history of state Democrats doing everything they could to stop federal Republican attorneys from investigating voter fraud over the past 100 years. Do you think that a Democratic federal district attorney will ever investigate voter fraud when the Democratic officials in NC don't want them to... well no -- he won't because his next political job after federal DA is probably a state position/office. The DA is not going to cross his future benefactors. The same thing in reverse (of the parties) also holds true elsewhere).

Isn't it limited already, to paths pointed to by evidence of civil or criminal law violation. Mueller's team has to justify subpoenas, and indictments to get them issued. We may not get to see the evidence until later, but it would be a mistake to assume there isn't any.Actually the Mueller investigation (along with most investigations) already has a defined timeline. The Mueller investigation needs to go back every 6 months and ask for more time with a justification if they need more time -- which is the standard process & fine. (I have no complaints about this). The issue with the Mueller investigation is the failure to define a proper limited scope.

In fact most federal prosecutors do not want to touch voting fraud cases because the landscape is rife with landmines that may blow up also hurting your own party. Most federal prosecutors want to stake their careers on successful highly-visible prosecutions of racketeering and similar crimes which bring them lots of positive press ---- which why voting fraud is as the bottom of the list for investigative priority.
