Tesla Cybertruck reservations hit 146,000

It does seem halfway between Automan's Autocar and something from The Highwayman starring Sam Jones.
Also from a movie - Upgrade :

No windows. Fully autonomous. Armored
(?)

Most likely, wouldn't fit in the price range tho. Unless client could order additional , armored parts, tuned wheels etc, which would boost price from 40k to 100k etc.

Today i had lunch with my boss, great guy, he reminded me a simple thing. He didn't knew where i stand in like it/or not position, & he told this :

,,Everyone can critique, but few will actually do something, to make it better''

I was amazed, that i forgot this simple, timeless truth.

Still i wonder, how would it turned out , if they announced public voting , through emotional add, something like :

,, Be the part of the future.
Help us to choose,
the new design, for...

CyberTruck ''

(basic example)

in the context of add like this :

That would have been quite a voting on their homepage. Maybe then, females could have their own version and males theirs. Either way, audience will always be divided.

All the current cars on the road look like crap so I dont think it's so bad hah. For 40k its not over priced either. I'd like to see what most of the people bitching about it drive. It's got nothing on a good F150 or Chevy though :).

Tesla Cybertruck is a dumpster or trash can on wheels

The fact that either you like it or you hate it (instead of simply ignoring it) is a sign that the designers did something right.

The Lamborghini Miura, which is now regarded as a classic, when it came out also had such a polarizing effect because its design was something people were not used/accustomed to.

listen, i like cyberpunk genre as much as anyone, but you don't use the shittiest designs from blade runner, the running man, or total recall, as inspiration.

why not? I'm not trying to attack you here, just wondering why you cannot use the design from a SciFi movie (beyond possible copyright issues). As long as there are enough people willing to buy it, I would say that no design choice is by itself bad.

It's an affront to good taste? On a serious note, it's a bad business decision to design a mass produced item w/o universal appeal. Unless you run a cult, then all bets are off.

It's a matter of personal taste but I find the majority of vehicles on the road these days just plain fugly. From the soft edged, potato like BMWs to the hideous hourglass grilled Lexus. Even the Teslas, until now look like milquetoast vanity cars for women. When I saw the cybertruck however I was impressed, it is the masculine scifi look that appeals to me. Went ahead and reserved a 2 motor version.
If it's a hot day the sun coming through the windscreen is gonna fry your knackers.
No bloody good in Astraylya, you'll be frying eggs on the front seat.
Like driving with a sunroof by your face, might be ok in winter, but you wait till summer comes....
