The towers were filled with financial operations. I can't imagine how many were affected by the disaster. We're putting out some calls to try to find friends/traders/market makers we know who work down there.
The NYSE is only about 4 blocks away. I wonder if it will take a lot of time to get the specialists back at their posts. The main subway arteries run right under the towers, as well as the main rail line to-from NJ.
I suspect that Nasdaq may have to take over trading of listed securities, or at least the 3rd markets will step in. What a great and unfortunate argument for decentralization of NYSE, the home of world capitalism.
