The fact that we don't have tyrannical government is a result of a well armed citizenry. Two cases? We have cases almost everyday. We are constantly fighting against the government to keep our arms free. That's the first fight. As long as we are fighting peace ensues. Our founders observed what happened in other countries and had the foresight to see it would happen in the United States if we didn't fight for every freedom we enjoy. Our second amendment is the red line no government may cross. The fight is much more civilized when the fight is over an accepted freedom. Once that freedom is gone anything could and will happen and it won't be civilized. That is why our guns are so important to all peace loving citizens. Plus, we just like guns, it's part of our recent culture and we have no desire to end up like Europe. We are much newer and have the advantage of never making and being bound by the same mistakes older outdated cultures still cling to.For as far as I remember I know of two cases where this happened in the US. And in both cases the government turned out to be the winner.
Do you think the US government is not (or less) tyrannical due to the fact that Americans have arms? If you need arms to have a bit of freedom and democracy there is clearly something wrong in the country where you live.
