Bad idea. Needing such protection would send a message to congress that they actually do know what's best for us.

I would not be opposed to basic pre-vote testing with simple questions about who the leaders of the House and Senate are and which party they belong to. Apply the same testing to the candidates and their running mates. Such basics might protect those of us who do study the issues from the stupidity of those who don't when voting time arrives.

Just as a no-vote might be considered a vote for the opposition, an un-educated vote might cancel out an educated vote.

Such a device would be D.O.A. simply because the outcome of such testing would show different levels of education in politics. Can you imagine the outcry by those who failed to answer such basic questions? By the same token, if a test were failed there would be no reason not to retake it after a brush up. Such testing might serve as a way to educate voters about those they vote for rather than eliminate them from the process.

Some, myself included, believe that many in congress are content to have uneducated voters dependent on them and would never have an open mind to changing that dynamic.
