Obama promised that anyone who made under $250K would not get a tax increase, and I made well under $250K and got a tax increase. And it was the sneaky, underhanded way he went about it, burying a tax on tanning beds in his Affordable Care Act. I don't tolerate being misled and lied to like that by anybody, and I'm voting for Romney, as I would whomever opposed Obama.
The company I work for is owned by Pepsico and they gave us free Pepsico stock options as part of our benefit plan. In order for Pepsico to comply with the increased cost imposed upon them by the ACA, they cancelled that benefit. I cashed out my options and recieved a little over $1000. So over four years, it would be fair to say that voting for Obama would cost me $4000. Should I pay $4K in order to remain popular with my friends on the smoking patio of my favorite piano lounge? No. In fact, when one of my liberal friends was railing against Romney and Republicans in general at the piano bar last week, he asked how could anyone vote for a Republican. I told him that I would be doing exactly that in November. He could barely hide his astonishment and anger. I explained to him my reasons, just as I have explained in this post. He literally said that the US needs a social system more like Europe and Americans need to wake up, (yes, he's from Europe, the quintessential Eurotrash).
I have never voted "for" a candidate in a presidential election. I've always voted to stop the other candidate from election. That even meant voting for John Kerry in 04. I'm tired of having to do that, but frankly there are no candidates out there that represent my interests. I simply want to minimize the harm to myself.
