Ted Kennedy-the enviromentalist kills wind farm deal

I wouldn't want to look at them either and don't blame them for not wanting them there.

They aren't environmentalists they are conditional environmentalists.

The Kennedy compound is right in that area and so isnt the ISLAND John Kerry's family owns too.

They both led the opposition earlier during the proposal and now a Massachusetts back office quashing was done to avoid looking like fools.

Maybe they should builld a nuclear plant right on the beach front instead? The sun and wind can give us more power than we could ever use if we just get going on their use. Can't they make these wind turbines a little better looking?

What's wrong with them? I've seen ugly wind turbines (Altamont Pass, CA). The new 1MW+ turbines on unguyed towers are graceful, quiet, basically harmless. Certainly you don't want to live so close to one that you are shadowed by it, but that's not the case with offshore farms.

Wait a minute......is the ocean actually public? Or only the bits that arent shipping lanes, which in reality are corporate?

Sounds like typical rule of thumb here, richest peep's with the best veiw win.

It seems to have been a rather limited, ad-hoc approach overall, the economies of scale arent there for legitimate political backing, as has occured in europe.

Building a complex of housing projects for displaced Katrina refugees would have been a far more beneficial and socially responsible initiative. Imagine those wonderful little New Orleans children relishing in the New England beauty, enjoying the historical heritage of JFK and getting an opportunity to get a good education in the Nuntucket schools. An opportunity wasted. But, there is still a chance to do good if only the conscience of the politicians were to wake up.

Hypocrites... I am reminded of my father who claims to be an environmentalist and voted for Nader (another sham liberal). He put NDANGRD on the back of his Jag and recently owned a Suburban which has like a 40 gallon tank.

You have to realize (and I doubt you will) that environmental and any other political views are not achieved by individual actions, self-sacrifice, self-restraint, boycotts etc, they are achieved by government policies. Based on your silly logic if you don't believe in Social Security you should not collect it when you retire or otherwise you're a hypocrite. Your father driving some other car won't change anything, if he forces the government to implement higher mandatory mileage standards for all cars in this country - that will make a huge environmental difference.
